One Last Time

Some friends ask if this a metaphor for something, is this a reference to some story. Wat do u think this is?

There is a
silence in the wind,
sadness has skinned the sun
as the soldier takes the ride
For one last time

With his sword and shield
With many wounds that can't be healed
He takes the ride
For one last time

The king will get more gold
Nobles will have their stories told
He has no reason to fight
yet, his only reason is to fight
He takes the ride
For one last time

The silence in the wind
tears through the battle din
It doesn't matter, to lose or win
as the soldier breaks in to enemy lines
For one last time

He swings his sword
throws away his broken shield
He knows the war is fought with heart
and not with shields
He fights
For one last time

He gets stabbed through his chest
His vision is sinking in his blood
His memories are flashing in his head
He wears a smile
but why the smile?
May be, because
His life will end,so will his pain

The trick is how to die
and the purpose of every ride
The king may get his gold
Nobles may have their stories told
When they die
but can they smile,
For one last time

Nice one sound....

I'm seeing the soldier as a Developer
King - Lead
Nobles - Sales team

Excellent post!! I loved your view "purpose of every ride"...

King may get gold; Nobles may get their stories told
But I dint get sold for I did what i am destined for
I smiled and I smile now for I am always a legend scop scores of
