The day ice turned red

On an evening, a cold winter evening
My twin brother and I went to play
we'd had to lie to get our way
we traipsed up the slopes
of the silent snowy mountain
the place that our mother had forbidden
We went to break our boredom

Strands of fabrics in our hands
weaving in and out, all day
Oh, not for us, no chance
Pashmina for folks, far away
With no coeval to play around
Me and my only companion
we traipsed up the slopes
of the mysterious snowy mountain
the place that our mother had forbidden
We went to break our boredom

Neither dawn nor dusk
the day was undecided
The wind was reluctant
The wild fauna were recalcitrant
We knew not what lurked in them
We just went to break our boredom
Our favourite game, with the toy gun
Our mother hated that one
we ran, jumped and yelled
our excitement could not be quelled
But suddenly my day turned dark
not the sky, but my life became stark

My brother was way too fast
He was tough to chase
He climbed on a rock
I was too tired to even walk
Then came a noise too shrill
I felt in my spine, a chill
At that moment. time froze
My brother came rolling down
With a gut wrneching groan
I rushed to him but he...
he was way too fast
I can still hear his labored breath
It was the day white turned red
The day ice melted into blood

Darkness was closing in
I couldn't see what he was mouthing
Our war was just for fun
We did not maliciously tote a gun
We either welcomed playmates
or declined politely
We didn't drag them in
we didn't kill them randomly
My impotent anger was seething
but tears cleared everything
I decided never to set foot again
On that cursed snowy mountain
the place that our mother had forbidden
where We'd gone to break our boredom
on the day ice melted into blood

Time trickled and snaked to the present
Now I understand
My mother's words
Now I understand
Why I had no other playmates

I'm a robin bird.

This was written for a friend's painting.

let me say the story
that once u liked
about a dove and moon light
may be u will rest your eyes
and fall asleep with a smile

let me whisper in your ears
those songs i wrote
when u were not near
may be u will rest your head
on my shoulder
and say nothing but just smile

darling r u feeling blue
i will trade myself
to paint your world new
darling r u feeling cold
i will burn my skin
I'm a robin bird

With dreams in eyes

This one is a love song as sung by married couples

Our hearts aflutter
into the unknown future
we stepped forth

fun repartees
sweet memories
we look back

with dreams in our eyes
joy in our hearts
we look forward

To an eventful journey
as husband and wife -
a witness to each other's life
